On Saturday, February 6 (the day prior to the Super Bowl!) from 9 AM-12 PM, the Fairlington Presbyterian Deacons will host a drive-by food drive outside of the church. We want this to be a safe event for everyone, so please remain in your vehicles upon arrival and follow the instructions of our masked volunteers! We will collect monetary donations for ALIVE! in Alexandria and donations of non-perishable food items for the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC). AFAC accepts most unopened, unexpired, and unprepared foods; however, they are most in need of the following Heart Healthy items:
-- Low sodium tomato products (diced, paste, and sauce)
--Low sodium canned tuna
--Low sodium canned beans
--Low sodium canned soup
--Low sugar cereal
If you're unavailable to participate on February 6, you can also drop donations off at the church the week leading up to the event. Please give the office a call at 703.931.7344 before stopping by or send an email to [email protected] to ensure the church office is open. You may also make a monetary donation through the church giving page at www.fpcusa.org/online-giving.
Additionally, our friends at Fairlington United Methodist Fairlington United Methodist Church will host an ALIVE! Housewares Donations Collection on Saturday from 8:30 – 11:30am in their parking lot. Extra pots and pans in the house? Unused appliances replaced by new ones received over the holidays? ALIVE! can re-purpose these gently used items for those in need.
