Title: Aging with Grace & Dignity: Support Senior clients through Age-Related Transitions

Overview:

In this workshop, a panel of aging care specialists will walk through the decision making process for elders and their families as they consider their options for housing while aging: independent living, assisted living, and community care options. A realtor with the Senior Real Estate Specialist(R) designation will address "right sizing" and how to approach the delicate situation of helping elders move out of their homes with independence and dignity. A senior moving company specialist will explain how she coordinates these efforts to provide a support team. A placement consultant will discuss helping seniors (and their families) articulate their needs and then evaluate communities for continuing care. Lastly, there will be an attorney to address elder care issues.

Many elders and their families are forced into these decisions due to a fall or diagnosis, this presentation will address the dynamic of planning ahead - using questioning strategies with clients to prioritize their lifestyle values and concerns and helping them make this decision on their own terms (hopefully before they are forced) aligning it all with their available resources.
