The Foxhall Farm Cup Team ChaseSunday, March 17, 2024 Post Time 1PM
Wit’s End
2409 Gadd Road, Cockeysville, Maryland 21030
All horses must be on the grounds no later than a half-hour prior to Post Time, 1pm. Any horse deemed late to the start may be scratched.
Conditions
1. Catch weights. Approximately four miles over a flagged course. NO SCHOOLING PERMITTED.
2. Open to teams of three horses and riders that have fairly hunted the current season with an organized pack of foxhounds. In addition, school sponsored teams will be permitted to compete in the Full Cry event. To be ridden by regular followers of that hunt or students at that school in hunting or cub hunting attire. Racing tack is permitted; protective vests, approved helmets, overgirths are recommended. Any team that fails to negotiate the flagged course will be disqualified. However, any such team may complete the course as a school, but must give way to any teams in competition.
3. Teams will start separately at three-minute intervals and will race against the clock. Teams enter either the Foxhall fast time event to compete for the Foxhall Farm Trophy or in the Full Cry averaged time event. The Full Cry Trophies will be awarded separately to the Junior and Senior teams coming closest to having the average of all times over the course, including the fast team times. All three members of each team must finish, having jumped all flagged fences, and the time will be counted when the team’s third horse and rider cross the finish line. The fast time teams will be assigned start times prior to those of the averaged time competitors.
4. Fence 16 presents two options. One is a “Palisades Challenge” fence, and the other is a pole jump. Both jumps will be within one set of flags, white on right red on left. For fast time only, if all three members of the team jump the “Palisades Challenge” fence, they receive a 15 second deduction from their final time. Full Cry competitors may jump either panel but do not gain any benefit for jumping the “Palisades Challenge” fence.
5. The Foxhall Farm and the Full Cry Perpetual Trophies will be held for one year by the respective winning teams. All horses/ponies officially completing the fast- time course will be awarded 1/2 point towards Governor’s Cup year-end awards. Each of the 3 riders of the fast-time winning team will earn one point toward relevant rider awards. This race is to encourage everyone to have fun riding cross country as well as to introduce young horses and riders to pt-to-pt races. All Junior riders completing the course will be recognized.
6. Each team shall designate a Team Leader. The Team Leader will be responsible for (1) making the team entry through the Central Entry Office (including a mandatory and binding Declaration as to which hunt or school that Team represents); (2) insuring payment the team’s entry fee; (3) insuring all team members sign the Release and provide proof of medical coverage; (4) picking up and distributing pinnies to Team members, and (5) returning pinnies.
