About this Event
The first of the four short plays is 'After the Ball' by Frederick Stroppel, directed by Clive Darling. It follows Joanna (Aileen Holly) and Stuart (Brian Foy) who have just been to a very alternative funeral, totally changing Stuart's mind about his own final farewell.
Second on stage is 'A Matter of Husbands' by Ferenc Molnar, with Ekiñe Azcárate, a first-time director at the helm, and featuring Kate Egan and Emma Harmon in the two roles. A distraught young woman accuses a famous actress of stealing her husband. The actress reveals that the husband staged a false affair to provoke jealousy and revive his relationship.
Up next is 'The Beggar or the Dead Dog' by Bertold Brecht, directed by the second of our three directors making their debut, Katie Lynch. The cast of Brian Kearns and Linda Butler will bring to life the tale of the emperor, who confronts a beggar who has recently lost his dog outside the city gate. The beggar has nothing more to lose, so he tells the emperor the truth about himself.
And finally, 'Poker Night' by Dan Mooney concludes the night of drama, directed by Michelle Kelly. The two-hander tells the story of elderly friends, Alfie and Leonard, who bond over a shared loss during a game of cards. Joe Brady and MK Pathan make up the cast.
