Join your neighbors from the rich variety of Fountain Hills faith traditions as we gather for our 17th Annual Fountain Hills Interfaith Thanksgiving celebration on Sunday, November 23rd at 2pm. This year’s celebration will be at The Fountains, a United Methodist Church, 15300 N. Fountain Hills Blvd.In the midst of rising Christian Nationalism, anti-Semitism, and renewed Islamophobia, this Fountain Hills tradition is more relevant than ever. Sponsored by the Fountain Hills’ Interfaith Alliance, a coalition of local faith communities and leaders committed to embracing diversity and pluralism, this annual observance is an intentional interaction with our neighbors of other faith traditions as a positive witness to a world in conflict over religion.
Those joining together in the celebration include Jews, Muslims, Catholics, Protestants, Latter Day Saints, Buddhists, Baha’i, Religious Science, and practitioners of other faiths living in and around Fountain Hills. The service will include inspiring music, a time for conversation, and an opportunity to reflect on the importance of being in face-to-face dialogue with those of different faiths and life circumstances.
This year’s theme is ‘Companionship on the Journey,’ celebrating how the gift of diverse hands and hearts not only makes the journey richer but our community more vital. Focusing on the metaphor of the Labyrinth, our gathering will culminate in an optional guided Labyrinth walk led by certified labyrinth facilitator, Beth Dyer.
Our shared community outreach this year will support Extended Hands Food Bank and everyone is encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable food items to contribute to our “Table of Plenty” effort.
Thanksgiving is a unique opportunity for all Americans, regardless of religious or faith background, to come together with thanks, acknowledging the richness of America’s religious diversity. Don’t miss out on what those who have attended in past years have called, “an amazing experience!”
