Dear SRFC Family,As we prepare for another Founders Day celebration, we take a moment to honor the lives and legacies of three cherished members of our club who have joined scrum down eternal.
Alan Summers, hailing from Wales, was one of the finest players and coaches to ever don the navy and emerald jersey. He passed away in 2023, leaving an indelible mark on SRFC. This summer, we said goodbye to Chris “Jacko” Jackson, an amazing player and SRFCs head coach from Australia, whose impact on and off the field was immense. Most recently, in September 2024, we mourned the loss of Jimmy Stewart—one of our club’s founders and perhaps its most beloved player. Their contributions will forever remain part of SRFC’s proud history.
Founders Day, established in 1999, serves as a bridge between our past and present, allowing newer players to connect with alumni and giving alumni the opportunity to meet and inspire the next generation who continue to carry forward our club’s legacy.
This event is for male players, alumni, and supporters. Thanks to Ron Kitchens, the Awards Banquet was introduced to honor not only the players' achievements but also the women who support us and, let’s be honest, put up with us. This will be in June.
This year, Founders Day will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Bryan Bevel's Pitch Pizza and Pub.
Cost with reservation: $25 (includes food and beer)
Cost without reservation: $30
Entry only: $15
