Ready to learn about the most versatile power tool in the modern woodshop? Wood Routers can be intimidating, but this foundations class will give you the knowledge and confidence to safely explore these powerhouse tools. Learn how to differentiate the assorted types of routers (Fixed, Plunge, Handheld or Table-Mounted, etc.) and tooling (the bits) in order to select the right one for your project. Our instructor will review basic tool components and assembly, and demonstrate set-up and safe operation. We will cover common jigs, edge treatment routing, trim & pattern routing, circle routing, mortising, tenon sizing, and edge joint preparation (panel edge joints, dado, French Dovetail).
This is a beginners level class - No prior experience needed!18+
*Please note, this is an introductory course and will consist of primarily lecture and demonstration to keep the class within the allotted time. It is designed to offer a comprehensive overview of common router uses, router safety, and the tools themselves. Through or half-blind dovetail jig use will be covered in a separate class.
