Foundations of Digestive Healing: An Ayurvedic Approach to Gut HealthDigestion is considered the foundation of health in Ayurveda, influencing everything from energy and immunity to mood and vitality. In this workshop, we’ll explore why digestion holds such a central role in Ayurvedic medicine and how this perspective differs from the Western focus on nutrients, enzymes, and isolated symptoms.You’ll learn the root causes of common digestive imbalances through the lens of agni (digestive fire), ama (toxic buildup), and the doshas, and how these imbalances can manifest as bloating, constipation, loose stools, fatigue, or heaviness. We’ll discuss how to restore balance using the time-tested wisdom of Ayurveda, emphasizing daily habits, food as medicine, and gentle, sustainable support for digestion.The workshop also includes hands-on learning with simple, effective herbal remedies you can easily make at home. These include ginger pickle, CCF tea, takra (spiced buttermilk), digestive masala, and herbal bitters, all of which are practical tools you can begin using right away to strengthen digestion and support long-term gut health. About your Teacher: Cathy is a Certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor, Panchakarma Specialist, Clinical Herbalist, Chef, and wellness educator. She is the owner of Balanced Body Ayurveda and also works part-time as an advanced cook at Honest Weight Food Co-op.
