Professionals and parents/caregivers are invited to join us for a free workshop.
This special event is focused on supporting young children with autism. Learn about best practices to help children with autism thrive. This in-person event will provide valuable insights and strategies for professionals, parents, and caregivers. Don't miss out on this opportunity to connect with professionals and families in your community! Light dinner will be provided.
During this workshop, we will:
- Review signs of autism in young children
- Identify core features of autism with emphasis on principles of person-centeredness, neurodiversity, and inclusion
- Examine assumptions and beliefs about challenging behavior in young children
- Review evidence-based practices in autism and developmentally sensitive positive behavior support strategies relevant to toddlers and preschoolers with autism.
- Collaboratively identify strategies to implement in small group breakout sessions
With support from the Transylvania County Local Interagency Coordinating Committee (LICC), childcare can be provided during the event. We have limited childcare slots available for this event. This service is available for children between the ages of 2 through 7 years old.
