Creating a Trauma Sensitive Foundation for Peacebuilding: An experiential session based on lessons from South Sudan.
The short workshop will begin with a newly created video and an explanation of what we mean by a trauma-sensitive approach to peacebuilding. How and why this approach originated in South Sudan will also be explained. Then, we will share three experiential activities that can be applied on an individual, interpersonal, and/or community level, whether abroad or in our own everyday lives. These will be fun, and everyone is invited to participate. We shall conclude with suggestions on how to incorporate emotional safety and self-care into all our peacebuilding work, as both are critical for sustainability and ‘do no harm.” Time for Q&A will follow.
