She is currently working as an editor on This Room is Impossible to Eat, a first novel from Slovakian. Eluned Gramich has translated Monique Schwitter's stories Goldfish Memory from German, the language of her father, to English, the language she learned in school. Her mother tongue is Welsh. She has also translated her own experience of learning Japanese as a young woman living in Japan into the award-winning memoir The Woman Who Brings the Rain and she then married a Brazilian. Emyr Humphreys has translated the iconic 70s counter culture novel Y Dydd Olaf by the language activist and physicist Owain Owain into English for the first time as The Last Day. He also translates from Portuguese into English and is working with several Brazilian writers to bring their work into English.
