In conjunction with the exhibition 'Shattered Illusions: Reconsidering Glassware through the Lens of Care,' Friends of the Owens-Thomas House (FOT) welcomes art historian Dr. Jennifer Van Horn of the University of Delaware to speak about the relationship of objects, artwork, and enslavement in the United States.Dr. Van Horn is the author of "The Power of Objects in Eighteenth-Century British America" (2017) and "Portraits of Resistance: Activating Art during Slavery" (2022), and she was the recipient of the National Portrait Gallery’s inaugural Director’s Essay Prize. The talk will be preceded by a wine reception.
