About this Event
In preparation for Earth month, the OFJCC's Center for Social Impact is partnering with Living Classroom in a community day of garden improvement. Living Classroom is a local nonprofit that teaches environmental literacy through hands-on lessons in edible and native gardens at participating elementary and middle schools.
Weather-permitting, we will W**d, plant or apply mulch at a participating Bay Area school site to ensure its garden is well-maintained so their plants can thrive. Otherwise, volunteers will participate in an art project to help beautify Living Classroom’s garden sites.
This family-friendly activity is perfect for elementary school children through adults, as well as younger children who can garden with parent assistance.
More details including the school site will be provided at a later date.
In partnership with Living Classroom
Living Classroom's mission is to inspire children to learn about and value the natural world through garden-based education. We make learning come alive and empower the next generation by growing environmental champions, inquisitive learners, and healthy eaters. We support students that are excited about science, connected to nature, and are equipped to build a future that is environmentally sustainable. Living Classroom provides a full-service program that includes: field tested curriculum and instruction, lesson materials kits, a volunteer docent training program, garden design, installation, and maintenance, and interpretive signage.
