Join us for a day dedicated to discovering the wonders of our prehistoric planet.Unearth the past with drop-in activities for you to join throughout the day.
* Experience an awe-inspiring Nanogirl dinosaur show, made just for you! You’ll meet Nanogirl’s resident palaeontologist Debbie Lovegrove, also known by her superhero name Debbiesaurus. This interactive event features a hands-on fossil discovery zone equipped with microscopes, magnifying glasses, and authentic fossils from various corners of the globe. Runs every 30 minutes
* Paint a mini dinosaur with a beautiful array of Resene paint colours.
* Thanks to our Exhibition Partner Resene for providing all the materials for this fun activity.
* Join Botany Curator Leon Perrie on a hunt through Bush City for plants like those eaten by dinosaurs. A clue – we’ll be looking for plants that have no flowers.
* Dino-inspired face painting by Daizy Design.
* Uncover the bones of a mosasaur buried in Te Ngahere | Bush City’s sandpit.
* Get creative with our fossil-making craft activity.
* Enter our drawing competition to win the soon-to-be-released Te Papa Activity Book. Meet the author and be the first to try some of the activities like word search puzzles, crosswords, and more.
* See Te Papa’s most attractive and interesting plant fossils. Some will look familiar, like plants from your garden or the bush while others are bizarre.
