Forward Ever: A Celebration of Sound System Culture Proudly Present:HAIL H.I.M.
A Musical Celebration of the 132nd Earthday of His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Haile Selassie I, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Jah Ras Tafari.
Adrians Wall Sound System and full crew will be stringing up their Sound System to play tribute to the King from 7pm until 1am on Saturday 27th of July at QQQst.Park, 2 Peel Street, Collingwood, VIC, 3066. This is a FREE event and All People of All Tribes are Welcome, food will be available from QQQst.Kitchen on the night until sold out.
Some history for those who do not know:
Lij Tafari Makonnen was born on the 23rd of July 1892 in Ejersa Goro, Ethiopia. On 3rd May 1910 he was appointed governor of Harar and given the title of Ras Tafari Makonnen (Ras meaning Head, his previous title of Lij meaning Child) before finally being crowned Haile Selassie on 2nd November 1930 in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia at his coronation as Negusa Nagast (King of Kings).
As a member of Solomonic dynasty Haile Selassie can trace his lineage as the 225th descendant of Menelik, the son born of the unity between King Solomon & the Queen of Sheba. As such Haile Selassie is considered to share common ancestry with Jesus Christ who is also a direct descendent of David, the father of Solomon, who slew Goliath in the Valley of Elah.
Following the teachings of Marcus Mosiah Garvey who told his followers to "Look to the East for the Crowning of a Black King" the Rastafarian movement was born in Jamaica in the 1930's with many accepting Haile Selassie as the physical embodiment of God being the second advent of Christ as prophesied in the Book of Revelations. This lead to Haile Selassie being given the title of Jah, an abbreviation of the name Yahweh or Jehovah, which is given as the title of God in Psalm 68 verse 4: "Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name Jah, and rejoice before him"

We come to play the best musical tributes from Nyabinghi field recordings & foundation roots reggae through to conscious digital & the most modern productions from all over the world. All this will be presented the way it was meant to be played, with tops like lightning & bass like thunder as we string up Adrians Wall, a truly heavyweight custom built Sound System.
