Join us for an enchanting Andrew's Day celebration!
It's a night of fun, mystery, and a little bit of magic. We'll be offering card readings, Kalyta (special holiday bread) biting, throwing boots, fortune telling with the ring, with beans, with candles swimming in the nut shells, and other exciting divination methods.
Fortune-telling on St. Andrew's Night has deep pre-Christian roots. Proto-Ukrainians believed that the winter sun (the sun in the shortest days of the year) was defenseless. And it was on December 13 that the deity KalŠ½ta descends to earth to save the heavenly body from mythical creatures who want to eat it.
