Love trails? Want to learn how to build and maintain them? Join us for the longest running Trails Education Program in the Southeast presented by MTB Atlanta and Georgia State Parks.
Volunteers are essential to construct and maintain the trails you love to ride, run or hike. MTB Atlanta is the leader in Trails Education in the Southeast and is partnering with Georgia State Parks at Fort Yargo State Parks in Winder, Georgia to teach sustainable trail construction, trail maintenance best practices and volunteer management.
This class is free to Georgia DNR and Georgia State Parks staff, Georgia SORBA members, and Yargo Trail Crew. The class is available to all other trail enthusiasts, out of state SORBA Chapters, and Trail Organizations for a $65 fee. There is a 20 person max attendance. This is a two day course that covers sustainable trail construction, maintenace and how to run volunteer crews on work days.
The class is half classroom lecture, half field work and is taught by Walt Bready. The class runs 9-4 each day. There will be an hour for lunch each day which you can do on site or off on Winder. Please wear weather appropriate clothing, wear closed toed shoes sturdy enough for hiking, bring gloves, water, snacks, a pack and a notebook and a pen.If you have any specific questions about the class, email [email protected].
The class will be held in the event room at Fort Winder State Park please arrive at 8:45 to get seated to start promptly at 9.
