It is your responsibility to ensure you plan your journey in advance. If you do not attend there will be no refund of your course fee. If you turn up after the course has started you will be refused entry and any rebooking will be subject to a full rebooking fee.
The course includes a practical ‘on-road’ cycle training element and gives drivers a ‘real life’ experience as to a cyclist’s perspective of riding on busy roads, as well as in traffic.
The course consists of two 3.5-hour modules (both delivered on the same day); the first module is classroom-based theory and the second module is an outdoor practical session, where delegates are able to get a cyclist view of the road.
The FORS Professional Safe Driving course highlights a driver’s regulatory responsibilities, the importance of safe driving practices on motorways, rural and urban roads, and other hot topics that can negatively impact safe driving such as driver fitness, health, distraction, and impairment. The course includes a practical on-cycle session and a theory module.
Both modules (i.e., the practical and on-cycle sessions) are 3.5 hours each, counting towards seven hours of Driver CPC, plus the mandatory work-related road risk training as required at FORS Silver.
- Work Related Road Risk (WRRR)
- Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Silver level
- Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS) Standard
Please ensure that you dress accordingly. To add, Hi-Vis sleeveless jackets and helmets are provided by FBG Training on the day and must be worn by all delegates at all times throughout the cycle element. This is for your safety.
IMPORTANT: Any driver attending the course must have their identity checked by either a photo card driving licence, Operator card or a Driver Qualification Card (DQC). This will allow FBG Training to register the driver onto the Transport for London master SUD database which confirms the driver has attended the course.
For a driver to be uploaded to the FORS/TfL register and/or be accredited with the Driver CPC hours they must complete the entire course. Generally, the only reasons for not taking part in the cycle element are on medical grounds, or if during the cycle familiarisation session, the driver is risk assessed as not safe to ride a bike on public roads – in these instances it is acceptable for the drivers to walk the course meeting up with the cyclists at the exercise/discussion points and joining in with the discussion.
You MUST bring your Driver Qualification Card to ensure you are eligible for Driver CPC periodic training.
This course contains content relevant to drivers that hold a vocational category C1, C, CE. The course content is not fully aligned to drivers with a vocational category D1, D, DE. The holder of these categories, however, can attend and gain their 7hrs.
IMPORTANT- Have you completed this course before? You cannot attend the same course within a 5-year period unless you have a good reason to repeat it. For more information, contact our office [email protected].
Did you know? FORS insist all delegates complete the cycle element in all-weather types to gain your certificate so COME PREPARED. Bring suitable clothing, water and sun cream if applicable for the weather conditions on the day. Refusal to participate in the full course will result in no accreditation.
Please note: Travel costs are not included.
Refreshments: The usual refreshments such as tea, coffee, biscuits, filtered water etc., are available FOC throughout the day.
Parking: There is a pay to park system in place on the estate. Please collect the code from Old Oak Training before you pay as this will override the default system of 3 hours max and allow all day parking. The driver is responsible to pay the parking charge. The parking charge is £15.00 payable via credit/debit card. A receipt is sent to your email address. If possible, please travel to the venue via public transport or be dropped off. There is limited on-street parking and no parking at all on Wembley Stadium event days.
Learning Disability: If you have a learning disability and/or require additional support, please contact FBG Training at [email protected] to let us know.
