Former Lovers is releasing their debut album "Emotionally Awkward" and we are celebrating it with our pals from Calgary Hip Hip Thursday 🎉Former Lovers are a new band of old friends, originally hailing from Prince Albert/Saskatoon, SK. Coming from a small town, they share in making a big sound. With driving rhythm, ethereal guitar stylings and catchy hooks you'll be singing long after the next show, you certainly don't want to miss this.

Consisting of bandmates LJ Tyson (vocals), Cale Hretsina (drums), Kayanna Wirtz (vocals, bass) and Colin Klassen (guitar), all names you've seen around the Saskatchewan music scene, Former Lovers has already been called 'almost a supergroup'.

Drawing inspiration from 90's teen centric rom-coms, you dad's record collection and topics that make dinner at your grandparents uncomfortable. This crew is sure to wow you with an energetic show as they draw you in with catchy melodies and angsty anthems you'll wanna belt out on that familiar drive into Saskatoon, and the world beyond.
Hip Hip Thursday formed organically as a cooperative of six musicians who met at the weekly jams on (you guessed it) Thursdays. The resulting project maintained a creative space to speak truth to power and as a band they reflect the diversity of talents Moh’kins’tsis has to offer. Members Nyle Segovia and Anthony Kha are Saskatoon locals who have migrated to Calgary.
Hip Hip Thursday blends the rich, improvisational essence of jazz with the rhythmic, lyrical, and cultural depth of hip hop in a 6 piece arrangement. This fusion allows us to create a unique soundscape that honours the traditions of both genres while charting new creative territories with influences of funk, indie, and rock. Our music is not just about sound but about storytelling, emotion, and connection to important events and realities of the world around us.
