Join us at 7pm on Saturday, August 17 for an interdisciplinary performance from the creators of the podcast Interesting People Reading Poetry. Brendan Stermer will read from his poetry collection, Forgotten Frequencies (NDSU Press), winner of the 2023 Poetry of Plains & Prairies Award and a finalist for a 2024 Midwest Book Award. Poems will be read to an electronic score performed live by Miami-based composer Andy Stermer, and interspersed with original music from Malena Handeen.Forgotten Frequencies is an homage to the cultural legacy of rural western Minnesota. Stermer’s poetry is in conversation with many voices from the literary history of the region - from the journals of the 19th century French cartographer Joseph Nicollet to the 20th century prairie poets Tom Hennen and Robert Bly. The books were printed on antique letterpress equipment at The Braddock News in Braddock, ND and assembled by hand by students in the publishing program at NDSU in Fargo.
