Each burning deed and knife.While making a hand forged knife each student will learn the proper use of the hammer, tong and anvil. Students will have the opportunity to use either a natural gas or coal forge. This 7 hour class starts forging the spikes red hot into shape. first the handle which includes tapering and twisting the metal. Than flatering and shaping the blade. this normally takes all morning. In the afternoon we grind and sand the blade then we learn about harding the metal and polished to a bright finish, Each person will be able to take home a finished knife that they made.This class is appropriate for both novices and experienced smith who want to sharpen their skills. All tools and supplies are provided. The students are expected to provide their own personal safety equipment including eye and hearing protecting, and leather shoes.The class is fully refundable until 8 days before the class starts, if canceled after that date there is no refund.
