A one-person play about the radiantly beautiful Olive Thomas, who made her way to New York City from the steel country of western Pennsylvania to become an artist's model and Ziegfeld Girl (and also Ziegfeld's mistress). From the Ziegfeld stage she made the jump to motion pictures and met Jack Pickford, who she fell in love with and married. Olive became a silent film star with a bright future that was cut short when she died tragically at the age of 25 in 1920. Her mischievous ghost has reportedly been haunting the New Amsterdam Theatre in NYC for the past 103 years. The play takes place on the 100th anniversary of her death, September 10, 2020, Olive’s ghost invites us to the stage of the New Amsterdam late at night when the theatre is dark to relate the many adventures and misadventures she had in her short tumultuous life.
Playwright John R. Arco spent over two years researching and writing the play and describes the process as a “labor of love”.
