Forest Therapy: Gathering in Nature
Date: Sat Jan 11, 2025
Time: 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Location: White Pine Wilderness Academy
Forest Therapy, also known as Forest Bathing, is a nature-based wellness practice. This experience can be described as sensory, immersive, and slow. During this experience, we will use our senses to “bathe” in our surroundings, using eyes, ears, hands, nose, body, and heart to experience the world around us. This practice will be facilitated by Certified Association of Nature & Forest Therapy (ANFT) Guide, Donna Riner. During the experience, she will facilitate invitations, or prompts, to support sensory connection to nature and provide opportunities for sharing between invitations.
To begin, we will gather at White Pine Wildnerness Academy in their yurt, which is warmed by a wood burning stove & provides cover from the elements. There will be opportunities to wander out into the land beyond the yurt, during our two and a half hours together, with time built in for walking short distances, wandering, exploring, sitting, and sharing.
At the conclusion of the experience, we will share tea and snacks together in the yurt.
Participants should come prepared to be outdoors and bring whatever you may need to feel comfortable on the walk: water, snacks, small towel to sit on, dry clothes for after, etc. Please alert your guide, Donna, about any dietary restrictions you may have at least one week prior to the walk by emailing her at [email protected]
