The Level 2 Award for Forest School Assistants – Is appropriate for staff or volunteers who regularly help at a Forest School (or those who would like to) and wish to gain a qualification. As this course is taking place over the winter months it is being delivered in a 'blended' format. There are 6 half days of face to face training covering the practical and woodland skills accompanied by online lectures covering the theory. The training section of the course is then followed by hands-on time supporting a Forest School Leader at their Forest School and written assessments.
The course covers a variety of practical skills and theory that will develop understanding of key elements of Forest School and consider how to apply these whilst supporting Forest School sessions. Topics include:
- Firelighting
- Tool Use
- Getting to know Woodland Species & Ecology
- Holistic Development
- Self Esteem
- Managing Risk
- Lots of inspiration for natural crafts & games
What does the qualification cover?
This course carries a total of 6 credits (60 Hours) at level 2 and consists of 2 units for supporting Forest School programmes:

PREPARING FOR THE COURSE:
A large part of the training will take place outside, in all weathers. Please ensure you have appropriate outdoor clothing, including full waterproofs and footwear.
