We are so EXCITED to hold our fourth trail run on 23rd February 2025!
The Forest Hill Trail Run is held within the magnificent Forest Hill Reserve and adjoining private farmland and is to raise funds for our awesome rural primary, Lochiel School.
We are thrilled to have AB Lime to support this event and caring for our rural community.

We have three awesome options for you to choose from:
Piwakawaka Challenge - a 5km walk/run uphill trail through the Forest Hill reserve. You will summit at a lookout on private land, grab a selfie, hydrate and head back down the same track - collect your awesome medal - challenge completed!! We have added a Family Pass option too!
Kereru Krusher - an awesome 15km mid level trail run up the forest hill track and onto farmland, take in the glorious views as you head down to the north end of the Forest Hill track. Take in the bush views as you track back up and across to the finish - Krushing it!!
Tui Trailblazer - The ultimate challenge 25km following the same route as the Kereru Krusher but the added fun of taking on the farm trail run a second time - what a trailblazer!!
The start/finish line will be a hive of activity with plenty to do post run or while dutifully awaiting for your running buddy! We will have NRG Winton giving some warm up drills, DJ NUMNUTS blasting the tunes, hot coffee, refreshments and food options and well as an awesome kids corner with obstacle course and more!!
Forest Hill is a wonderful resource that we are lucky to have as part of our school landscape and the track weaving over the hill is an amazing asset to Southlanders.
The track is well formed and gravelled but obviously being a bush track there are the usual suspects of tree roots and steep drop offs cropping up to keep an eye out for! The farmland that the Piwakawakas will summit onto and the Kereru and Tui runners will trail across is privately owned and not open to the public under normal circumstances - enjoy the rare access to run this awesome rural landscape! The farm trail runs through paddocks so the presence of mud, animal droppings and uneven terrain should be embraced!
