Immersive woodland experience filled with simple mindfulness techniques and sensory exercises to relax and connect us to nature more deeply.
About this Event

Forest bathing+ method based on Japanese concept of ‘shinrin-yoku’ is giving us an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the forest atmosphere through all 5 of our senses, enriched by carefully crafted sequence of mindfulness activities backed by science to enable us to feel more present, grounded and to facilitate healing.

Despite the name, practice does not involve immersing yourself in water :)

Scientific research shows that practicing mindfulness in nature can be especially supportive for the untrained meditators who find meditation indoors somewhat challenging.

We will meet you wherever you are – whether you are a seasoned yogi/ meditation practitioner or somebody completely new to mindfulness practice altogether. All sessions are designed to allow each and every one of the participants to go at their own pace.

What to expect during the session:

  • Sessions are 2.5 hours long and ran in small groups of up to 10 participants
  • A slow immersive woodland walk (total distance between 1-2km)
  • Simple breathing exercises throughout
  • Stopping occasionally for sensory exercises designed to relax and connect us to nature more deeply
  • A unique opportunity to experience a guided lie-down nature meditation called 'treelaxation' combining the principles of body scan and visualisation
  • Herbal tea tasting
  • Sharing circles (optional)

There has been a substantial amount of studies carried out in Japan since 1980ties that make Japanese scientists view shinrin-yoku/ forest bathing as preventative healthcare due to the potential health benefits listed below:

  • Reduced blood pressure
  • Lowered stress levels
  • Improved cardiovascular and metabolic health
  • Improved sleep
  • Helps to lose weight
  • Lowered blood-sugar levels
  • Improved concentration and memory
  • May lift depression
  • Increased anti-cancer protein production
  • Improved pain thresholds
  • Improved energy levels
  • Balanced immune system

The added benefit of attending Forest Bathing+ in a small group setting is the opportunity to be guided and supported by your session facilitator and surrounded by a community of like-minded people. Sharing and hearing others share their observations and thoughts can resonate deeply and equally expand our horizons.

I am an experienced Forest Bathing+ Guide certified by The Forest Bathing Institute – the leading UK body for research and training, Royal Parks license holder with permission to operate in Richmond Park and insured practitioner with ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid.
