Immerse Yourself in the Serenity of Nature
Discover the profound benefits of Shinrin-yoku, a Japanese practice known as forest bathing, right here on the tranquil grounds of Mount Sequoyah. Guide, Emmie Brenzel, will walk you through an inner exploration of connection to the land and the trees. She will invite you to slow down and connect deeply with the land, movement, and life around you.
What is Forest Bathing?
Shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, is a therapeutic technique that encourages you to surround yourself with the calming and healing qualities of trees. Originally prescribed in Japan to support well-being, this practice has been shown to:
Lower Blood Pressure and Stress Levels: Experience a natural reduction in tension and stress.
Alleviate Depression and Anxiety: Embrace a sense of calm and emotional balance.
Enhance Immune and Autonomic Function: Boost your body's natural defenses and overall health.
Improve Sleep: Enjoy better quality rest and relaxation.
Boost Mood, Creativity, Energy, and Concentration: Rejuvenate your mind and spirit for increased creativity and mental clarity.
What to Expect
Guided series of mindful activities designed to deepen your connection with the forest environment. You’ll engage in gentle movement, sensory experiences, and reflective practices that foster relaxation and self-awareness. At the close of the session, you will also engage in a Japanese ceremonial tea celebration.
What to Bring
Comfortable clothing and shoes suited for walking
A blanket or mat for sitting / If you have it.
A water bottle if you desire.
