Have you heard of forest bathing?
Try it out this May Bank Holiday Weekend!
What is forest bathing?
It is a mindful and relaxing experience, immersion of all the senses in the atmosphere of a forest. Forest Bathing or shinrin-yoku is a preventive medicine technique from Japan which has been proven to have many health benefits, like lowering cortisol levels, boosting the immune system and improving mood and mental well-being.
The guided walk takes about 2.5 -3 hours and aims at improving your overall well-being by increasing the feeling of relaxation and revitalisation.
The session ends with a herbal tea ceremony to intensify the calming effect of the forest on the nervous system.
Located between Laragh and Rathdrum, the Vale of Clara Nature Reserve is known for its exceptional woodland and Avonmore River, which passes through the valley. The Reserve is home to many native tree species like oak, birch, mountains ash or holly. The forest is teeming with life. Many birds - woodpecker, jay, red kite and mammals - deer, badger, and red squirrel are just some of the wildlife in the Reserve.
