Learn how to provide person-centered, trauma-informed support to individuals through every step of the criminal justice system continuum.Join us for an intensive, one-day Forensic Peer Recovery Support Specialist (F-PRSS) training desgined for peer workers who would like to hone their skills in supporting individuals through each step.of the criminal justice system continuum. This course is approved for seven (7) CEU's through the Nevada Certification Board.
Course Overview:
-Understand the role that forensic peer workers play in navigating the criminal justice system and bridging the gap into care and recovery
-Explore unique challenges and barriers to forensic work
-Delve into the unique roles and responsibilities for F-PRSS, including how to use lived experience to provide person-centered, trauma-informed mentorship
-Explore the core principles, overarching philosophies, and best practices of forensic peer support
-Discover evidence-based strategies for providing support through each step in the criminal justice system continuum, from inital contact through post-incarceration reintergration
-Understand how to navigate legal systems in nevada, advocate for peers within those systmes, and connect them to resources
-Develop a foundational understanding of what drives criminal activity and the systemic issues and barriers unique to this population, along with how to address them
