About this Event
Force of Nature
In a world increasingly dominated by urban landscapes, it’s crucial to pause and reconnect with the natural world that sustains us. Through our voices, we aim to evoke the vivid imagery and emotional resonance of nature’s grandeur, offering a moment of reflection amidst the chaos of modern life.
As we witness the raw power of storms, hurricanes, and earthquakes, we’re reminded of our own vulnerability in the face of nature’s might. Yet, amidst this awe-inspiring display, we find solace and inspiration in the resilience of flora and fauna, in the cyclical dance of the seasons, and in the enduring circle of life.
The mission of the Capital Hearings is to engage the DC community through innovative performances, rooted in a shared commitment to artistic excellence, that connect disparate styles of vocal music. Our genre-busting repertoire includes music spread across space, time, and tradition -- from renaissance French to Hindustani, classical to Taylor Swift. Our hope is that by gathering and harmonizing these diverse works, we can fill our audiences with understanding and wonder, both for the richness of nature and of human creativity. You can listen to our CARA award-winning albums here, and learn more about us on our website!
