About this Event
For one day only in Seattle, join visiting Icelandic folklorist Kári Pálsson and archaeologist and translator Giorgia Sottotetti (National Museum of Iceland) at Skål for historic spell-reading and insightful commentary on the topic of forbidden Icelandic folk magic.
Kári and Giorgia will focus primarily on Kári's newly published translation of the most famous of Icelandic books of magic, the Galdrabók (Hyldyr, 2024).
The unique event will also feature commentary from the edition's editor, Olympia-based philologist Joseph S. Hopkins. Presented by Olympia's Hyldyr!
And finally, local, Ballard-born tattooist Jacqui Alberts will offer flash tattoos inspired by historic material for additonal purchase. Tattoing starts at 1pm, so arrive early to sign up for a spot.
Space is limited. Get tickets for you and your friends before it sells out!
All ages welcome.
Our full kitchen and bar will be open during the class. Your ticket includes a $5 bar/food credit.
