Foraging weather is here! Join Billy Bailey of Old Ways Education on Sunday, February 23rd 2:00 at Hinson Conservation Area for a class and guided walk to learn how to forage. We will start with a class to learn the history, precautions, and how-to of foraging then transition into a scenic walk along the Chipola River. We will do hands-on identification of over two dozen common edible and medicinal plants. Foraging is much more than a hobby; for most of history wild plants were easily identified for food and medicine. The plants haven't changed, it's the knowledge that is lost for many. Join me as we learn plants the way our ancestors knew them. The way we knew them before the pharmaceutical industry, before chain grocery stores, before processed food. Spaces are limited and can be reserved by calling or texting 850-209-1535. The cost is $15 for ages 13 and above no charge for kiddos. I have been blessed to be in professional environmental education for nearly 20 years with 5,000 programs given to over 100,000 participants and look forward to learning with you!
