The definition of ‘foray’ in the dictionary is: a sudden attack or incursion into enemy territory, especially to obtain something; a raid.During this class, we will not be raiding enemy territory. Instead, you will be trying your hand at identifying plants and fungi in our local Duluth region. ‘Foray’ can often be interchanged with the word ‘forage.’
This class will focus on teaching you the basics and the how-to of identification. It is a beginner-level course for those who may be too nervous to try wild plants and mushrooms or for someone who needs guidance in identification. We will focus on wild edibles, but foraging can also include searching for fibers, weaving materials, and other craft supplies.
Accessibility
This class takes place on the Munger Trail which is a paved trail. Bikes and mobility devices are welcome. The walk will be .5 – 1 mile out and back. You will have the option to stay on the paved trail while the instructor goes off-trail to retrieve any finds.
