About this Event
For the Love of Trails! 2025 Trails Day at the Oregon Capitol
Join trails stakeholders from around the state in Salem to connect with each other and with legislators and staff to share the love of trails and strategize how we can work together to defend our current trails and build the trails we envision.
We will gather at Pringle Community Hall at 8:30 a.m. to meet trail advocates from around the state and prepare together for legislative meetings.
Our morning legislative training will aim to ensure everyone understands the issues and feels confident meeting with legislators.
Our platform is straightforward!
- Oregonians love trails! More than 80% of Oregonians use local trails and are happier, healthier and more connected to their communities because of it.
- Trails stewardship and outdoor program providers need more balanced liability laws in line with our neighboring states.
- Oregonians want alternatives to walking, biking, running, and skating on high-traffic roadways! We must address the funding shortfall for the Oregon Community Paths program as part of a safe, green, fairly-funded, and accountable transportation funding measure.
- Oregonians want to see beloved trail projects move forward! We must continue to build on recent planning efforts for Oregon Signature Trails like the Salmonberry Trail and Oregon Coast Trail and not let those plans gather dust on a shelf.
Logistics:
You can order a FUND TRAILS t-shirt for $20 when you RSVP (Sizes Small-2XL available), wear your t-shirt from last year's Trails Day, or just where green or whatever you feel comfortable in.
We will have a complimentary bag lunch catered by Little Lois Cafe. Don't forget to order your personalized lunch with our group order form (link and group number in your confirmation email). (Want to help cover costs? You can either bring a bag lunch instead or make a donation when you RSVP.)
Leading up to the event, and during the morning training, we'll share more information about the platform, how the afternoon will go, and tips for having meaningful conversations with legislators and staff.
We'll aim to schedule meetings with key committee members and the legislators of Trails Day registrants (based on the address you give when you register) between 11:00 am and 4pm.
We'll end the day with a designated meet-up location for informally debriefing the day's meetings with peers and enjoying some camaraderie.
Accessibility and Inclusion:
Our morning training space and the Capitol are both ADA accessible. We are happy to seek out answers to any specific questions you may have.
You can request carpool matching with others from your region when you register.
If you have questions or accommodations requests, or if you'd like to attend, and personal travel costs are a barrier to participation, contact [email protected].
