Join us for an adventurous hike along the White Trail at the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve! We'll begin at the Mountain Lakes House, then make our way into John Witherspoon Woods, the oldest forest in the Preserve. This walk features rocky, uneven terrain and is best suited for those seeking a moderate challenge.
Along the way, we'll pass through a stunning grove of beech trees, follow along the winding rocky tributary of Mountain Brook, and venture into the boulder fields of the Princeton Ridge, where we’ll visit Devil’s Cave. This is more than just a walk; it's an immersive journey through the wild beauty of what many call Princeton’s “Central Park.”
Come prepared for adventure, wear sturdy shoes, and experience Princeton's natural and rugged beauty.
Meetup Location: Mountain Lakes House. The Mountain Lakes House parking lot is within the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature preserve located at 57 Mountain Ave, Princeton NJ, 08540. Be sure to drive down the long paved driveway entrance to the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve, marked by a series of black mail boxes. The gravel parking lot is on your left about a 1/2 mile down the driveway.
About FOPOS: Founded in 1969, FOPOS has been working to preserve and protect natural spaces in the greater Princeton area for more than 50 years. As a part of our work, we rely on volunteers to help make progress when it comes to restoration work such as our current forest and riparian restoration projects in the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve.
