Dear friends of Jaipur,We are coming to you with Footprints of Change, a retrospective of over 50 years of work with development. This is the first in a series: an exhibition of photographs taken by Barefoot Photographers, in the 1980s and 1990s. These photographs will be on display and sale at Jawahar Kala Kendra from 31st January to 2nd February 2025 from 11 am to 7 pm. The photos take you to an era where the pace was slow, and when people had the time to walk, pause, chat, and create. They bring back memories of a humane culture.
Ms Jenny Erpenbeck will inaugurate the photo exhibition on 31st January at 4 pm. She is the highly acclaimed author of several literary works in German, and her recent novel, Kairos, won the 2024 International Booker Prize. This will be followed by a book discussion on ‘Walking Barefoot: The Tilonia Way’, a selection of articles by Bunker Roy. Om Thanvi, Abhimanyu Singh, Sowmya Kidambi, Harsh Sethi, Renuka Pamecha and Kavita Srivastava will discuss the book.
The details are in the invites attached below. We hope that you do stop by, take a look or even take your favourite photo home.
Looking forward to seeing you at the exhibition :)
