The museum is hosting two fascinating talks on Saturday 11th October about the lives of men and women in the First World War. Inspired by the achievements of his footballing grandmother, Lizzy Ashcroft, Steve Bolton, whose work has featured in books, documentaries and plays, will discuss the rise of women’s football teams in WW1. His talk will be accompanied by a fascinating display of historic artefacts around the beginnings of women’s football and some of the personalities who against the odds drove it to success.
