About this Event
Whether planting one fruit tree or a small orchard, there are many things to consider. Join urban orchardist Matt Soltys in person to learn about caring for fruit trees in the fall.
This workshop will discuss pollination requirements and compatible cultivars, layout and spacing, sourcing, siting, timing of tasks, and more.
The workshop will be hosted at the Working Centre Market Garden, 1254 Union St., Kitchener, Ontario.
About our speaker:
Matt Soltys has been an organic orchardist at Guelph's Ignatius Farm since 2019, and recently completed a degree focused on biology and botany at the University of Guelph. He has turned his family's large urban lot in Guelph into an abundant food forest with two dozen species of fruit and nuts. He launched his business The Urban Orchardist this year to help care for established fruit trees and support the success of new home orchards and community food forests.
