About this Event
In this hands-on class, we will harvest and prepare for storage some of the great crops that you can eat long into winter if done properly. We will harvest taro, sweet potatoes, storage tomatoes, Jerusalem artichokes, and water chestnuts. Then we will go over the proper way to cure those that need it and the best way to store each one for medium to long-term storage. So if you've ever been interested in growing some of these plants so you can eat from the garden all winter long, or have questions about how to grow them, harvest them, or store them, this is your chance to try it yourself and find out.
This class will be located at the Bell Community Garden (3871 Bell Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63108) in their pavilion. There is free street parking all along Bell Avenue. Please note the earlier-than-usual start time since the sun will be setting early evening.
