Eleven writers, one haunted lake, and gothic tales from WA’s wheatbelt. A book launch not to miss.Join us for the launch of 'Follow The Salt', a haunting and unforgettable collection of short fiction, born from a writer’s retreat deep in Western Australia’s wheat and salt country.
11 writers journeyed into the heart of the land, staying at the once-grand Grande Olde Dumbleyung Inn, where they shared dawn graveyard visits, long-table dinners, a rattly tour bus, quandong coffee, and stories whispered in a run-down bathroom. One night, a biodynamic farmer told them: “If you want to find the stories, you need to follow the salt.”
And they did.
Whether you're a lover of gothic fiction, a supporter of local literature, or simply curious about the stories that emerge from WA’s salt-soaked soil, this event promises to be a morning of storytelling, connection, and eerie beauty.
Edited by award-winning author Donna Mazza, the anthology features short fiction by 12 regional authors who are alumni of Edith Cowan University (ECU) South West: Amber Black, Aksel Dadswell, Narrelle de Boer, Tiffany Hastie, Annie Horner, Jodie How, Donna Mazza, Rachel McEleney, Andrew James McLeod, Jo Porter, Theresa Wilks and Ines Zimmermann.
