Join us for our Folklore Originals Showcase event where we feature three original Kent-based artists, no headliners.About the artists:
Daniel McGuinness (@danielfmcguinness IG):
Daniel McGuinness is a singer-songwriter from Sittingbourne, Kent. Since his first release; 2022’s “Right Next To Me”, Daniel has been consistently releasing singles and honing his sound, garnering a reputation along the way for his strong melodies, smooth vocals and thought-provoking lyrics. A three-time finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest, his music has featured regularly on BBC Introducing in Kent thanks to support from DJ Abbie McCarthy. UK coffee enthusiasts may also be familiar with his music - Caffè Nero recently included “Make Today Your Home” on their nationwide in-store playlist, played within its 600+ stores across the UK. Live performances at London’s legendary Troubadour and Pizza Express Live soon followed, before Daniel began recording his debut EP, due for release on July 5th.
Robin Mack (@robinmackmusic IG):
Robin Mack (they/them) is an 18-year-old singer/songwriter from Ashford, Kent. Their original songs combine acoustic, folk and pop music, and have been described as “heartfelt”and “pure”. Robin has been performing around the county since Summer 2022, appearing at a variety of pubs and local festivals, as well as on TV and radio shows. The New Age Magazine called Robin’s stage presence “undeniable”, stating they are “a distinctive artist unlike any other… their passion shines through every note they sing”
Big Steve (@bigsteveartist IG):
Big Steve is a singer/songwriter from East Kent, taking influence from the likes of Charlie Simpson, Frank Bell and Lewis Watson, he creates music that really tells a story with the use of strong melodies and catchy hooks.
Steve has worked with some of the most talented session players and producers in the UK, some having worked with Will Heard, Rae Morris, Doug Wimbish, Soul II Soul, Mick Jagger, Roots Manuva and more.
About the event:
Unsigned Finds is designed to shine a light on unsigned musicians based in Kent. We encourage a respectful and inclusive environment where artists can be heard and not just seen. With this in mind please try to keep talking to a minimum whilst artists are performing. We will have a short break between each act where you can top up on refreshments and/or use the facilities.
This event is about discovering your next favourite Kent-based musician and supporting them on their musical journey!
About the venue:
Please join us at Folklore (69 Old High Street, Folkestone) from around 7pm. Music starts at 7.30pm. Get in from 5pm to enjoy their happy hour where cocktails are from just £5!
Folklore is a small venue that seats 30 and has one accessible, disabled toilet. You may enter from either door and order at the bar. There will be breaks in-between acts where you can top up your refreshments. Outside there are two benches where you can get some fresh air and enjoy looking at the Folkestone Banksy.
