Listen to this trickster story from Somalia, expertly told by Carmel and then join a discussion about telling stories from other cultures
About this Event

No experience needed to join this friendly group.

Slippery Hirsi and Crooked Kabaalaf is a Somalian story. Listen to Carmel's expert storytelling and then we will discuss the story. Is telling stories from other lands cultural appropiation? Would it be wrong to only tell our own stories? Why are trickster charcters in so many stories?

After we discuss these complex issues there will be time to write your own response, or your own story, and to share if you wish to. You will leave with ideas about how to use stories from other cultures and you will have been inspired to do some writing of your own.

This is part of a monthly series; you can join and leave at any point.

Online bookings only, no tickets on the door
