Hailing from Hammy Hill and united by a love of the St Pat’s Starlight Hotel Choir, this group of four are often found on the street corner in Freo, playing tunes by and for ordinary folk. Folk Like Us play an eclectic mix of music including edgy country tunes, folk, indie rock, pop, a hint of bluegrass and a touch of psychedelia. They include Peter Anthony on guitar and vocals, Dave Johnson on mandolin, guitar and vocals, Maggie Hale on bass and vocals and Helen Lorenz on keyboard and vocals. Their repertoire of covers and originals brings spine tingling harmonies and toe tapping rhythms, sure to have you up on the dance floor. Inspired by the likes of Gillian Welsh, Lucinda Williams, the Triffids, the Byrds, Kasey Chambers, Gram Parsons and Joy Division to name but a few, Folk Like Us appeal to diverse musical tastes.
