Roger Wilson and Chris ParkinsonRoger Wilson (fiddle, guitar) and Chris Parkinson (accordion, harmonica, melodeon) first played music together in 1994, when Roger was asked to join the acclaimed group The House Band, which Chris had been a member of for around ten years. In addition to travelling globally and making three albums with the band, they worked together on Roger’s album ‘Stark Naked’, and the album of Chris’s recorded shortly afterwards,‘Out of his Tree’.
Chris has been a highly prized accompanist and band member, over many years, for luminaries such as Ralph McTell, Norma Waterson and Martin Carthy. Roger, in addition to his solo singing and playing, has been in many bands and collaborations, including Wood Wilson Carthy. He has been involved in a number of TV and theatre projects, including two years with the hugely successful production of Warhorse at the National Theatre.
For thirty years they have continued to work together occasionally as a duo, at festivals such as Whitby Folk Week and Leicester’s The Big Session, and at club gigs and festivals around the UK and Europe. Their repertoire includes self-penned songs, old folk songs, their own tunes and compositions, and high energy traditional dance music from England, Ireland and America, sprinkled with occasional exotica from further afield in Europe. A gig with Chris and Roger is always a relaxed and melodious affair!
