Explore Argentina’s regional folk dances beyond tango (i.e. tango is NOT included in this series). Each session spotlights one or two styles and builds skills step by step. Learn basic footwork, rhythms, formations, and pañuelo work with cultural context. Dances include carnavalito, malambo, chacarera, zamba, and chamamé. No experience needed. No partner needed. This class will be taught by Paulino Brener, an Argentine-born educator and dance instructor who has taught at Tapestry Folk Dance Center’s International Folk Dance nights and also leads community dance workshops throughout Minneapolis.
Who it’s for:
Ages 16 and up.
What to bring:
Comfortable shoes. Water. Pañuelo or small bandana.
About the Instructor:
Paulino Brener is an Argentine-born educator and community arts organizer based in Minneapolis. He teaches Argentine folk dances such as chacarera, zamba, malambo basics, and chamamé, with a focus on musicality and clear, accessible instruction. Paulino has taught at Tapestry Folk Dance Center and leads cultural programs that connect movement, music, and story. His classes welcome beginners and experienced dancers alike, with inclusive pacing and plenty of practice time.
