The workshop will involve learning about the different elements of monoprinting. There’s loads of fun and playful experimenting involved as there’s so many outcomes from the process. We will have a go at different techniques using ink and a roller including trace monoprinting, collaging our monoprint mark making, collagraph, and masking out shapes as well as monoprinting with oil pastels.
We will create illustrations and patterns that are inspired by folk art. I will provide examples of folk art inspired illustration, including my own work as well as the work of others from present day and historically from different cultures.
You can bring your own printouts or examples on your phone too of folk art style animals, mythological creatures and flowers that you can work from.
The workshop will last 6 hours and in that time you will have lots of mono-printing experimental work as well as a final piece of artwork to take home with you.
Suitable for all abilities of artist.
