We have two house rules that we ask all players to follow:
1.) Deck Conversations. When you sit down to play, please have a conversation about your deck and what it does with other players. We are attempting to foster a fun play environment for all players. Listen to what other players have to say about both your deck as well as their own. Then if possible, play a deck that the table agrees is at the same power level. This conversation can be as simple as "Hey, I'm playing Animar. It's got 1 or 2 infinite combos but they all require Animar to be in play. I generally win around turn 6-7."
2.) Step Out. If a player would win the game or put the game into a state that no other player wishes to play through the table can agree that the winning player can 'step out' and the rest of the table will continue to play.
This can be done in response to a combo win or a play that would make the game unfun/unplayable (Example: Avacyn in play, then armageddon). This helps with a missed/misinterpreted Rule 1 conversation by allowing players to let someone 'Win' without having to stop the game and shuffle again.
The entire table must agree that the winning player may step out so if there is any disagreement the play will continue. A Judge can be called over to help with any confusion š
