The meeting will take place at 3510 NW 53rd starting at 2 PM, the weather is looking great for inside the warehouse this time of year. We will have plenty of great free pizza, pasta, garlic rolls, and salad from GG’s of New York starting at 2:30 PM, with the speakers starting by 3 PM. There will be several corals and other fishy stuff in our raffle that will take place after we have questions for the speakers.We are rolling fast into 2025 with many changes in our country, and lots of growth in our reef aquariums with corals growing out of control! It’s truly a fascinating hobby, and profession, that we are involved with, and the evolution of the marine aquarium continues even today.
Years ago, I can clearly remember going to Dick Boyd’s office in North Miami Beach off Ives Dairy Road and seeing the very first ever “Dutch Mini Reef” aquarium that Dick had in his front entry to his warehouse, which had to be sometime in the late 1980s. And Wow, how things have changed to full-blown living coral reef aquariums with so many species and so much color it's incredible!
This coming FMAS meeting on March 8th will be held at the FMAS home in our warehouse and I have volunteered to present a very comprehensive, past, present, and future of the marine aquarium hobby with some great historical images and videos helping to tell the story of our wonderful aquariums. We have been working hard on a surprise speaker for the March meeting and it's still very possible that he might commit this coming week, and I’ll send out another “March Meeting Update” when we get the confirmation. Think corals and lots of them….
