Talk Title: Rio Tapajós - The Adventure of seeing Angelfish Underwater by Cory McElroy
Talk Description: Have you wondered what it would be like to swim with your aquarium fish in the wild? Ever wonder what type of wood or rocks your fish prefer? How about what fish they school with for safety? I got to observe all of that under water for 2 weeks and will show you the most interesting parts. I filmed over 1000 videos and hundreds of pictures, with even more observations and stories. Never enough time to turn that all into videos, and thus this talk will have never before seen and heard information from my trip to Brazil Rio Tapajós 2025.
Speaker Bio: Cory McElroy has been passionate about the freshwater aquarium hobby since he first saw a friend’s display tank back in the early 2000’s. After years of working and managing a fish store in his area, Cory decided to go out on his own and established Aquarium Co-Op in 2012. His focus from the very beginning was to better the aquarium hobby, and he set out to do this by supporting local breeders, providing high quality fish and plants to his customers, and focusing on educating newer fish keepers. He soon took to social media to continue educating others by creating videos on YouTube, sharing his passion for the hobby while explaining things in an easy-to-understand style that resonated with millions of viewers. During this time, Cory focused on growing the business by adding online sales and developing or improving upon products that he felt the market needed. While Aquarium Co-Op has grown significantly over the past several years, with over 200 fish stores across the country carrying their products, Cory always stayed rooted in his passion for fish keeping and educating and entertaining others.
