THE EVENT:The FM-Duro is an event loosely based off of downhill Enduro races, even though we don’t have the downhill terrain. Enter the Fargo - Moorhead All Trails Enduro!
Riders will ride a lap or segment(s) of each trail system in the FM-Area at; Iwen, Gooseberry, and MB Johnson Park. The times from each segment will be tracked and cumulated together. The laps and segments will be determined as we get close to the event. There is work planned for different parts of trail systems, but we'll work to incorporate as much of them as we can.
TIMING FOR THE EVENT:
In the inaugural year (2023) of this event, we'd used Strava. Timing is TBD with what we will be using for this year's event.
If we use Strava, details will be the following: While not mandatory for participation in the event, if you'd like to be included in the timing, you'll need to use the Strava app to time you on the segments. Sign up for a free account via strava.com, if you do not have one. You can run the Strava app from a phone, or sync Strava with your cycling head unit of choice.
Also join the FM-Duro Strava Group for race day tracking (https://www.strava.com/clubs/FM-Duro)
If you do no not have a device available for tracking your ride, and would like to participate in the timing, reach out to us prior to the event and we can make arrangements so you can be tracked.
EVENT FLOW:
The progression of the event and segments will start at Iwen Park. This park may be 1 segment/lap, or could be multiple depending on ongoing erosion project work being done by the city which impacts the trail. Last year the original Iwen Trail south of 52nd was its own segment. The next segment was a combination of Lions Conservancy/Forum Tower trails. Riders will then move on to Gooseberry for a lap of that trail system. And then lastly will be a lap at MB Johnson Park, where the event will conclude. Finalized segments will be chosen/created prior to the event date and provided.
We will send riders out with a time trial type of staggering (ie. 1 rider every 15-30 seconds), for the first segment. We will ask riders to self-seed per ability/speed, and we may due some seeding of participants based on known abilities/past times. This will be done so as to minimize congestion and the amount of passing required on segments, though it may happen at times. As riders finish each segment, they are on their own to transfer to the next segment at their own (untimed) pace. Should there be a multiple riders arriving at subsequent segments, we will again stagger out start times of that segment some to limit congestion and the need to pass. There will not be a regrouping at each of the timed stages/segments. Participants start them as they arrive and are ready to do so.
The start time for event is 8 am at Iwen, in the boat ramp parking lot area.
Riders will need to start the Gooseberry segment by 10.
Lastly participants will need to start at MB Johnson by 12.
Participants can ride between the trail locations, as participants would in a true enduro event.
At the conclusion of the event, we will have water, sport drinks, hot dogs and brats for participants, as well as a presentation of awards.
